Job Details
Timothy Christian School, a Kindergarten – 8th grade Christian Schools International-accredited
school, is seeking a part-time 5th – 8th Grade Bible Teacher. This individual will work to
provide a Christ-centered education that nurtures students’ academic, spiritual, and social
growth. All candidates should strive to model Christ and participate actively in the Christian
church community.
I. General Description
The Teacher is contracted by the School Board upon the recommendation of the Administrator
for an indefinite period. The Administrator will evaluate the performance of the Teacher
regularly, and recommend to the Board whether the Teacher should be retained in his/her
teaching position or removed.
The Teacher shall be a college graduate, able to be certified in the State of Iowa or approved by
Christian Schools International, and one who feels called of God to the teaching profession. He
or she shall be one of spiritual maturity with academic and leadership abilities that will allow
him/her in cooperation with the parents to “train up a child in the way he should go.” (Proverbs
22:6)
II. Responsibilities
A. Teaching
The Teacher has the major responsibility of instruction in the assigned curriculum
area. In the implementation of this responsibility, he/she is expected to:
1. Teach regularly scheduled classes as assigned on the master schedule;
2. Be informed as to the academic, spiritual, and social development of each of
his/her students;
3. Employ those instructional aids, methods and materials that will provide for
creative, interesting, and enthusiastic teaching.
4. Discipline and guide the student in and out of the classroom in a manner that
encourages Christian behavior.
B. Teaching Tasks
In order to accomplish the above, the Teacher will perform the following:
1. Insure that adequate preparations have been made to accomplish objectives
established for the class;
2. Plan the use of course and unit plans and objectives and the weekly use of the
lesson plan book;
3. Maintain adequate records of attendance and grades to meet the demands of the
State, the requests of the administration, and the Teacher’s own need for a knowledge of
student progress.
4. Make homework assignments for drill, review, enrichment, or project work
sufficiently in advance of the due date so that the student will learn personal
responsibility, the joy of self-study, and be sufficiently informed that he/she
will be able to handle the work at his/her grade level;
5. Attend and participate in scheduled meetings, general faculty meetings,
conferences, and other school-related activities;
6. Request instructional aids and materials for classroom use.
III. Teacher Characteristics
The Teacher must be a Christian dedicated to the Lord, caring, creative, consistent, cooperative,
dedicated, dependable, a disciplinarian, flexible, a good planner, impartial and fair, have good
listening and questioning skills, loyal, a peace maker, be prompt, and sensitive to student
needs.
IV. Education Required
B.A. in Education preferred. Christian education background preferred.

seeking a full-time First/Second Grade Teacher Assistant to support our combination classroom. This
individual will work alongside the classroom teacher to provide a Christ-centered education that
nurtures students’ academic, spiritual, and social growth. All candidates should strive to model Christ
and participate actively in the Christian church community.
Responsibilities:
● Assist the classroom teacher with instruction, ensuring students receive individualized support.
● Support classroom management and student engagement in a positive, faith-based learning
environment.
● Work with small groups or individual students to reinforce learning objectives.
● Prepare and organize classroom materials as needed.
● Foster a Christ-centered classroom culture that reflects the values of Timothy Christian School.
Qualifications:
Professional:
● Experience working with elementary-age children in a classroom setting.
● Strong communication and collaboration skills.
● A passion for Christian education and student development.
Spiritual:
● A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
● Active participation in a Christian church community.
